I was expecting his to be a piece of junk. Was pleasantly surprised at how well it works.
I wasn't sure about this product until I tried it. I have used this winding on baitcasting and spinning reels. What I like about this product is that when you are winding a spinning reel the spool of line will rotate with the reel thus preventing line twist. This is a very quick easy and effective way to wind line on your reels.
Worth every penny. Excellent time saver. Absolutely no line twist. I re-spool my spinning reals at least twice a year and between my wife and I we have 10 reels to refill. I expect to get a lot of use out of this device. I have not used it for bait casting reels yet but I expect it will be fine because line twist is not usually a problem there.
I did a few rods when I received this product. I bought it based on you tube videos I had seen in the past. I understand the concept and think it's a great idea.
solid device. Cant wait to use it. Thanks
I bought this two weeks ago before my family's annual fishing vacation. I own 5 spinning reels that hadn't seen new line in a few years and just bought my first baitcast reel which needed to have line loaded. I am over the top in love with this spooler.
I have had one for about 3 years with no issues. No more line twist when spooling a spinning reel. Hold the line winder vertical so any wobble does slow the rotation of the spool. Get the rythum so the spool is rotating at the same rate as your reels rotor and just keep a steady pace. Great for bait casters to.
Works well and is able to put a little or lot of tension on the line. I have a hard time keeping the spool vertical and it sort of wobbles when winding but it doesn't seem to cause spring in the line. It can be a little awkward when first tying to the spool and trying not to twist the line as you fumble with it.
Excellent product. I have spooled several 2500-4000 series spinning reels and a few baitcasters with this product. So far the spooling has gone fine and the product has proven to reduce line twist on the spinning reels. I used 10-20 lb braid (Power Pro and Kanzen) and there have been no wind loops or noticeable twist. This is extremely important and can end up being costly if there is a need to keep re-spooling expensive braid. I am pretty impressed with the line winder and short of buying an expensive commercial grade spooling/winding station I would highly recommend this product for the recreational and light commercial fisherman using inshore or freshwater gear.
The biggest problem when loading line onto a spinning reel at home is the matter of line twist. The portable line spooler from Outdoorsy doesnt have this ptoblem.
I used it to spool my spin reel with ice fishing mono and that comes off the spool a twisted mess i dont know what I did wrong but it has worked perfectly for putting braid and fluorocarbon on all my other reels so I think it was my fault. It's a good product.
